Dissemination and Implementation of Stroke Prevention Looking at the Care Environment (DISPLACE)

NCT#/Phase: N/A
IRB#: 2018-004
Description: The purpose of this study is to assess the gap between current and recommended practices for stroke prevention in children with SCD. There are three parts to this study. First, researchers will use medical records to look at annual Transcranial Doppler (TCD) screening rates and Chronic Red Cell Transfusion initiation rates. Second, they will examine other hospitals in the US that implement these stroke prevention practices, and compare how often they are used in each facility. From this information, researchers will determine which institutions can improve their annual TCD screening rates and Chronic Red Cell Transfusion initiation rates. Participating in this study could help improve stroke screening procedures for at-risk patients with SCD across multiple facilities in the US.
Inclusion: Individuals who are between 2 -16 years of age with sickle cell disease who have had transcranial doppler screening between 2010 and 2016.
Enrollment Status: Open for enrollment
